Who Is Sonjia?

Sonjia is a woman of many talents and roles. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She is also a business owner, accountant, cook, nurse, janitor, mentor, counselor, and leader. Yet, above all, Sonjia identifies herself as a "Child of God," a role she cherishes deeply.Born and raised in Columbus, Georgia, Sonjia embodies the spirit of love and perseverance. Her name, which means "Of God," beautifully reflects her lifelong connection with faith. Even when she wasn't aware of it, God's presence has always been a guiding force in her life.

A Life of Love and Challenges

Sonjia is married to a wonderful and supportive man, and together they have two sons and seven grandchildren. Her husband is not only her life partner but also her best friend and business partner. They currently reside in North Carolina and have been married for 34 years. Sonjia's family is her anchor, providing her with strength and joy.However, Sonjia's journey hasn't been without its challenges. In January 2016, she faced the heartbreaking loss of her father. This profound loss led to a diagnosis of depression, marking a difficult chapter in her life. Sonjia bravely sought help through therapy and medication, slowly finding her way back to herself. Her resilience and determination to heal are truly inspiring.Four years later, she reconciled with her mother, only to lose her to cancer in November 2020. Despite these devastating losses, Sonjia has continued to find strength in her faith and her loved ones.

Finding Purpose and Passion

Sonjia's life is a testament to the power of purpose. She owns a childcare center, not just to earn a living, but to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young children and their families. She sees her role as a caretaker and mentor as a calling from God, a way to give back and create positive change.Her story is a powerful reminder that our lives can be filled with purpose and meaning, even in the face of adversity. Sonjia's dedication to her work and her community is truly commendable.
