Her Story in Her Words

One of my newest wigs, it came right after Christmas. Lovinggg the bouncy ringlet curls😍

I dyed this wig a little lighter, steamed it in my LuvMe thermal heat cap, then re-did the curls with a 3/8" inch curling wand.I have had trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling disorder) since I was 11 and I just turned 27 last month.

I've had so many different hairstyles over the years; I wore a glued on hairpiece from ages 16-17, then shaved my head when I graduated high school in 2016. I grew it out for a while, then in October 2024, I was pulling nonstop so I cut it to pixie length and started wearing wigs almost everyday. In February 2025, I shaved it down to a buzzcut, and finally discovered LuvMe last year in April. I have at least a dozen LuvMe wigs now!

My hair is naturally curly (maybe 3a/3b?). The texture of my hair has changed drastically from years of pulling, dying, shaving, perms, etc. I really love this wig because this is what I imagine my hair would look like today if I had never had trichotillomania. I included here photos of me at age 13, which I had already started pulling my hair by that point, but had not done any significant damage or bald spots yet. You can see I had gorgeous ringlet curls.

When I was still in school, I used wigs/hairpieces as a means of hiding. Now I am fully comfortable in my skin, and I use wigs as a means of fun self expression - I usually wear a different one each day to match my mood and vibe of my outfit! Thank you LuvMe for providing this outlet for me to make the best out of my hair loss disorder 💜✨️

Finding Something That Looked Natural

For Gessie, “natural” meant finding curls and texture that felt like her—not a cover-up. With LuvMe, she found a wig that matched the ringlet curls she remembers and imagined her hair could look like without trichotillomania. She could also personalize it—lighten the color, steam it with her LuvMe thermal heat cap, and refresh the curls—so it moved and bounced like real hair. That’s why LuvMe became more than a wig: it helped her feel confident, comfortable, and free to wear different looks as self-expression.
