Lace Front Wigs FAQ
What is the difference between a lace front wig and a regular wig?
The main difference between a lace front wig and a regular wig is the structure of the hairline.
Frontal lace wig has a rectangular (usually 13x4) lace panel on the front, where each hair strand is hand-tied to create a realistic hairline. The lace portion mimics natural hair growth, allowing the wig to be parted in the middle, side, or C-parted like real hair.
Regular wigs, or the most common machine-woven wigs, usually have a solid cap structure and no lace front. This causes regular wigs to look unnatural after the roots are lifted, so regular wigs cannot be parted at will. In addition, the hairline of a regular wig needs to be covered by hair falling down, so it is impossible to show a natural hairline.

Can You Swim with a Lace Front Wig?
You can swim with your frontal wig. But I don't recommend it. The water in the pool and the sea water will cause the adhesive of the front lace part to weaken. The resistance of the water and the swimming action will exert more tension on the wig and cause the wig to fall off during swimming.
In addition, after the unclean water contacts the wig, the wig needs to be cleaned and maintained again.
Otherwise, it will make the human hair front lace wig sluggish and frizzy, and it will be more prone to knots.
If your wig size is more than 16 inches, I recommend that you take off the wig before swimming. If your wig size is shorter, then you can wear a swimming cap to protect the wig.
How to cut a lace front wig?
To cut lace front human hair wigs, you need to prepare a wig stand or foam head to hold the wig, and then carefully cut with scissors (preferably Z-shaped scissors).
The lace of lace front wigs is at least 13 inches long, just enough to cover a person's forehead. It is difficult to cut it cleanly in one go, so it is a smart idea to divide the lace area first. You can divide the forehead lace into three or four equal parts, and then cut each area to create a natural hairline.
When cutting the hairline, you can cut along a straight line or along a Z-shaped trajectory. A straight line cut is easier, while a Z-shaped cut will make the hairline more natural. If you don't want to spend time doing this work, you can also choose our pre-cut service ($5). We will cut the front lace for you in a zigzag (z-shaped) before shipping.
How to make a lace front wig?
To make a human hair lace front wig, you need a lace wig cap, a hair bundle, and a ventilation pin.
First, place the lace cap on the wig stand. Use the ventilation pin to knot a single hair into the lace to form a natural hairline.
Generally speaking, the lace of the hairline part is to crochet one hair every 4~5 holes. The transition layer further back needs to crochet one hair every 3~4 holes. The last part needs to crochet one hair every 2~3 holes. If you need a thicker feeling, you can crochet 2~3 hairs per hole.
If you are a novice, the process of making a lace front wig may take 3 to 5 months. You can also directly purchase the finished front lace or closed lace, and then purchase the hair bundle and wig cap for sewing. This will greatly reduce your production time.
How long can a lace front wig last?
The lifespan of a lace front wig depends on its hair material and care.
Synthetic lace front wigs can usually last 2-5 months under normal use. Due to the material of synthetic lace front wigs, it can only be washed but not maintained.
Human hair wigs can usually last more than one year. Regular washing, maintenance and good wig usage habits can effectively increase the lifespan of human hair wigs.
Luvme Hair lace front wigs are made of high-quality human hair and can usually last 1-3 years if properly cared for. Tip: Luvme also provides wig-specific conditioners and shampoos to help novices better wash and moisturize wigs.
